Origin of Fibers

I dye various yarn bases, most of which are sourced from abroad, and some from Finland. I dye the yarns in small batches at our home in Vesilahti. I hand wash, dye, skein, and finish the yarns. I order yarn bases from abroad from a high-quality spinning mill in Great Britain, which works with suppliers to ensure that the fibers are sourced from the best possible places, where animals and workers are treated well.

Here is a list of the origins of the fibers:

Alpaca comes from the Peruvian Andes. The wool is sourced from small farmers whose way of life allows their animals/alpacas to live a natural life.

Mohair comes from South America, meeting the RMS certification.

Nylon is manufactured in Germany.

Silk comes from China.

Superwash merino wool is mulesing-free and comes from South America, and is superwash-treated in Europe according to the highest Öko-Tex standard.
